Dear Mallorca vacationers and Mallorca residents,
we would like to give you factually correct information about the current situation in Mallorca regarding the corona virus. The Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announced on Saturday evening (March 14) in a speech to the nation a far-reaching restriction on freedom of movement. Business largely comes to a standstill. Bars and restaurants must close, hotels may remain open, but may not host external guests.
Public transport routes may only be used for the following purposes:
- Purchase of food, pharmaceuticals and basic necessities
- Visiting hospitals and health centers
- Way to work and way back
- Caring for the elderly, children and those in need of protection
- Visiting banks
- Drive to the gas station
- For reasons of force majeure or as a result of an emergency
- Other purposes of comparable importance
- For example, walking the dog is allowed, says Sánchez.
- The Spanish Ministry of the Interior can block traffic routes if this is necessary for health reasons. Schools and universities suspend teaching.
